| BRISTOL PRIMARY SCHOOLS JK and Paul Burgess undertake another tour around Bristol Primary Schools with a programme aimed at inspiring creative writing among the pupils. This year the theme is The Sea. |

| BOUDICCA Nigel Bryant revamps his dramatisation of Rosemary Sutcliff’s novel “Song for a Dark Queen” at Marlborough College, Wiltshire. John uses his music and songs from their earlier collaboration in 1983, and devises new choreography and stylised movement for this production by the college students. |

| KEEP WOMAN IN HER SPHERE The Drama & Theatre Arts Department, Staffordshire University. JK is musical director for a documentary play about the history of women’s rights, assembled and performed by second year drama students. Directed by Rob Marsden. |

| NEW ROOTS JK is one of the panel of judges at this competition for young folk musicians held annually in St Albans. |

| GONE TO EARTH – REMEMBERED AND
REVISITED The Lordshill Project, the brainchild of Shropshire resident Richard Beaumond, was formed to look at the impact of the location filming of the Mary Webb novel “Gone to Earth”, in 1949, when Hollywood stars mingled with hundreds of local extras. JK is called in to comment on the various traditional dances and tunes used in the film, and is one of the voices heard on a double CD of reminiscences, information, and newly inspired work. A live show, based on these recordings, tours Shropshire village halls over the next few years. |

| TYNEFOLK INTERVIEW JK is interviewed by Johnny Handle as part of the series produced by the Tyne Folk Club in Blaydon near Newcastle upon Tyne. The club plan to build up a recorded archive of performances preceded by interviews with the club guests. |

| IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF THE LITTLE GIANT Folk South West launch a huge celebration of the two hundredth centenary of the birth of Isambard Kingdom Brunel by organising specially themed folk days, and extensive concert tours by a huge gang of folkies in primary schools all over the South West of England. As well as being one of the team for this project, JK is commissioned to write two new songs – “What a Builder Of Bridges” about the Clifton Suspension Bridge, and “A Great String Of Pearls” about The Great Western Railway. |

| THE SEVERN SUITE “The Severn Suite” is a suite of new dances and accompanying tunes commissioned by TASC, based in Llandinam in mid Wales, and created by JK and Karen Tweed. A premiere performance – in fact, the only full performance - takes place at The Seed Festival, with a band based around JK & KT, and a group of sixteen local dancers. |

| PHONES 4 U JK records a load of concertina tunes which are used over the next couple of years as background to a series of television adverts for “Phones 4 U”. |

| THE SEVERN SUITE “The Severn Suite”, created by JK & Karen Tweed in 2006, is published as a book by TASC – ISBN 978-0-9556537-0-4. There are dance instructions, music, background information, and a rehearsal CD of the tunes, played by the composers. |

| BRISTOL SCHOOLS JK travels solo around primary schools in the Bristol area, giving a morning concert in the school hall and separate afternoon songwriting workshops in the classrooms. The theme this year is “Seasons in Song”. |

| TEACHERS TV JK is captured in action during his stint at Bristol Primary Schools, showing how a song he performs to the pupils can be used as the basis of a song-writing workshop in class. This is part of a programme, made by Available Light TV for the Teachers TV website, called “Primary Formative Assessment and Personalised Learning”. |

| FANTASTIC MR FOX The Open Air Theatre, Regents Park, London. JK’s song settings (but not his incidental music) from the 2001 production at The Belgrade Theatre in Coventry are dusted off for this new version, in which David Wood directs his own adaptation of Roald Dahl’s story. |

| SHEPHERDS IN THEIR FIELD A-BIDING The Stanchester Quire, a community choir based near Yeovil in Somerset, and directed by Eddie Upton, commission a new Christmas Carol with which to conclude their seasonal shows. The Quire eventually records the carol, with JK conducting, on their 2009 CD for Folk South West “Bud, Blossom, and Bloom”. |

| VICTORIAN FARM BBC TV A series of six one hour programmes showing a year in farm life in the 1880s, filmed by Lion TV on the Acton Scott Estate near Church Stretton in Shropshire. JK pops up as a local folkie in Episode 4 – May Day - and Episode 6 – Harvest. The series is massively popular, and is repeated constantly over the next few years. |

| SOUTHERN SOFTIES JK is asked to add various squeezebox touches to the soundtrack of John Shuttleworth’s hilarious film. Graham Fellowes, the brains behind the project, composed the melodies you hear. The cinema release became available on DVD in 2010. |

| FANTASTIC MR FOX David Wood’s dramatisation of Roald Dahl’s story, first produced in 2001, is published by Samuel French Ltd. JK’s song settings are not included in the book, but are advertised as being made available should anybody want to use them in future productions. |

| VICTORIAN FARM Second Series – BBC TV In the second series of this popular programme JK appears at the Haymaking Feast, contributing songs and dances, and at Christmas time, with Wassailing, Carols – with a specially assembled band – and a tongue-twisting toast. |
|
| FANTASTIC MR FOX The Electric Theatre, Guildford, Surrey JK’s original recordings from the 2001 production in Coventry are used again in this new version of David Wood’s adaptation of the Roald Dahl story. Becky Ivey directed this version for The Man In The Moon children’s theatre company. |
